"It's never too late to live your dream!"

TEAM JONES OREGON

MISSION
Our mission is to develop the whole player in an encouraging environment that fosters learning,
focusing on fundamentals, team ball,

character, commitment, and sportsmanship.

VISION
Simply winning will not be the measurement of success, rather success will be evident through the steady and
consistent development of players, the soundness of their fundamentals, demonstration of good character, and the confidence of players and parents that we are providing supportive and constructive coaching.

We will focus on team success as a whole, which means, making the extra pass, passing up the shot if it's not there, giving up a good shot to a teammate with a better scoring opportunity, giving 100% on both ends, encouraging teammates, and so on. Wins and losses, in this fundamentals-focused program, will not measure our success, at this point, as much as solidifying fundamentals and using them in games will. We will celebrate an attempt at a cross-over even if the shot is missed. Shots will eventually fall, but for now, perfect that skill. Our intention for the spring and fall programs with Team Jones Oregon is the long-game, and we will design our practices to help players achieve success over an extended period and when winning will matter… during your high school careers and beyond.

For this, the long-game approach, we believe, is best.

Our expectation from coaches will be equal playing time with a few exceptions designed to reward hard work and effort. We will allow coaches to try for the win if they are behind and 6 minutes or less left in the game, but only if a comeback is possible, or the game is close and they are protecting the lead. Again, wins and losses, at this level, are less important than ensuring all players are getting equal value for their investment and opportunities to practice the fundamentals they are learning, in game situations. BUT we also know that hard work and

effort should be rewarded. We will do our best to strike that balance.

VALUES

The Following Commitment From Coaches and Players Will Set Our Program Apart:

> A focus on fundamentals

> Team ball - “Together”

> Sportsmanship, class, humility

(help opponent to their feet, respect the officials, etc.)

> Commitment to team through attendance, encouragement, etc.

> Coachability - hungry to learn new skills and perfect existing skills

> Model good character and integrity

> Demonstrate grit and determination

> Give teammates your very best

> Be competitive, NOT cocky (Humble but Hungry)

> Do not bury our opponents by running up the score.

Conversely, don’t give up no matter how far behind.
